Martin Keen's Locus Workstations were designed with one word in mind: Movement.
Paired with the dynamic Locus Seat the Sphere adjustable desk facilitates movement and active working in ways traditional office furniture could only dream of. Low desks and chairs force the body into unnatural positions; the human body was not meant to sit with the legs at a 90° angle for hours at a time.
Active office products like the Focal Mobis or Varier Move Stool support the body in more natural positions. By sitting higher and opening the hip angle, the pelvis is able to rock forward and support the spine's natural S-shape curve. This position also allows the legs to aid in supporting the upper-body's weight rather than putting all of that pressure on the base of the spine.
Think about it: your lower back and spine are the only things keeping you sitting upright in an old-school knee-tilt chair. You could lift your legs off of the ground and not miss a beat.
Healthy sitting solutions don't just rely on your lower back to keep you upright. When weight is more evenly distributed throughout your lower body your back doesn't suffer from sitting.
Focal's Sphere sit-stand desk has an impressive height range of 36" - 48", making it almost impossible to sit with an unhealthy 90° knee angle. The powerful hand crank makes it easy to adjust between perching and standing throughout the day. While most crank desks require 15+ rotations to move the work surface an inch, Sphere's powerful gears require just four cranks for each inch of adjustment.
