Big things are on the horizon:
Introducing the Horizon LED light by Humanscale
Now shipping! The Horizon light carries a 2 - 4 week lead time.
The Humanscale Horizon light, available in the second half of 2011, is the latest in innovative LED lighting technology from Humanscale. The first task light to feature Thin Film Technology™, the Horizon LED light boasts a surprisingly wide footprint of warm, white 3000K light while consuming just 9 watts. Like the Humanscale Element 790, the Horizon LED light features a dimmer for ultimate adjustability and energy-savings.
50,000 hours - the life span of the Element LED. That's the equivalent of 25 years of use in a standard office environment! And, if needed, the LED assembly can easily be replaced to further extend the life of the light.
To make Mother Earth smile, the Horizon LED light is constructed of 95% recycled content. The components are also 99% recyclable and it is shipped in 70% recycled packaging. The Humanscale Horizon LED light can help any project achieve a number of LEED-CI, -NC, and -EB credits.

Did you know that lighting accounts
for nearly half the energy used by commercial buildings? At that rate,
it’s no wonder the cost of powering an office building is so staggering.
Energy-efficient task lighting offers a solution. In addition to
providing an excellent source of ergonomic light, task lights can help
reduce energy use and costs. So not only can your employees work more
productively with better light, you can shrink your carbon footprint
while making a difference where it’s felt the most—on the bottom line.
Humanscale task lights use only LED and compact fluorescent (CFL)
light sources, which are far more cost- and energy-efficient than
comparable incandescent bulbs. CFLs use 25% of the energy of
incandescent bulbs and last up to 10 times longer, while the latest LEDs
use as little as 10% of the energy and last up to 60 times longer than
incandescents.
Overhead lighting is one of the biggest culprits of energy
consumption. By placing energy-efficient task lights at every
workstation, overhead lighting levels can generally be reduced, slashing
energy use and costs. In fact, research has shown that a dual-source
lighting system can reduce energy consumption by as much as 67%. That
profound energy savings can reduce a building's overall energy use by as
much as 25%. Less energy for lighting means lower operating costs, not
to mention less pollution, and that's a benefit for everyone involved.
