Follow these instructions for correct monitor positioning:

p class="par">1. Height:The top menu bars on the screen should be positioned at or slightly below eye level.

    2. Angle: Tilt the top of the screen slightly away from you so that the screen is square to your line of sight.

    3. Distance: As a guideline, position the monitor at arm's length. If you are near or far-sighted, position the monitor slightly closer or farther so that you can easily view the characters on the screen without having to lean forward.

    4. Alignment: The monitor should be centered with the midline of your body to minimize neck and torso rotation. Center the monitor with the keyboard.

*The "H" key can be used as a center point to assist in proper centering of the keyboard and monitor.

TIP: The monitor arm can be moved closer to you when computing and easily pushed back when more workspace is required for writing or referencing documents. This will enable both proper positioning for computing tasks and add needed desk space when the computer is not in use.

So great to have the stability and flexibility that this monitor arm offers.  I have the notebook holder option as well and my MacBook Pro fits nice and snugly.  Top quality.

A bit disappointed with up/down play in the arms March 13, 2013
Reviewer: Cristiano Pereira from sunnyvale, CA United States
I have gotten this for my office and I confess I am disappointed with the up/down play in the arms also mentioned by the previous reviewer. In fact i noticed that it has play up and down and also left and right. So my monitors are not only tilted downwards but they are also not exactly aligned with one another. If Humanscale has a solution for this I would like to know as this arm is not inexpensive.

Excellent adjustability - one small complaint December 23, 2012
Reviewer: Russell Christopher from Charlotte, NC United States
I was a bit worried that a monitor arm supporting two 23.6 inch monitors would be "happy" using only a clamp mount. NO problem there. The clamp mount is quite robust and worked like a charm.

The arm itself is a thing of beauty - too bad it's hidden behind my two monitors!

I do have one niggling complaint. One attaches your monitors to the crossbar by way of two sliding brackets attached to the crossbar itself - each monitor goes on a bracket.

These brackets have a bit of up/down play on the track to which they are  mounted. The end result is that when each  has a monitor hanging from them, they have a slight but noticeable downward tilt as the bracket "hangs" off the crossbar.

It may be possible to jam something between the bracket and the crossbar to reduce this problem, but I don't want to take the risk of damaging anything.

It may also be possible to compensate for this problem by using the VESA mounting plates to "push" the lower part of the monitors out a bit.
