The Varier Pendulum is the brother of the Actulum. All of the same great features coupled with a thin back and no arms. Without arms, the elbows are place behind the torso on the frame of the chair. This position, along with a thin back, allows the chest an upper body to open. Deep, full breathing is promoted which leads to improved concentration and productivity. The body is rejuvenated creating an overall sense of well-being. The Pendulum is ideal for any room in the home or office. Sitting at a dining table, working at a desk, or just relaxing in a quiet room, the Pendulum provides support and comfort in any setting. Curved runners facilitate varying positions while seated. As you rock forward or back the runners allow the chair to tilt with you and provide support throughout the movement. While sitting still chair rests in a natural position, allowing the body to find its own, natural equilibrium. The back rest and sloped seat increase the angle between the thighs and upper body. An adjustable seat is standard on the Pendulum creating a comfort level for users of varying heights.
Humans were created to move, not to sit still.
"I believe that the spine is happiest when it can adopt the natural curvature that it has when we stand upright" -Peter Opsvik
No scientific evidence supports the notion that the "correct" sitting posture is upright, at a right angle. In fact, studies are now revealing that the body operates best when its form is allowed to remain open and fluid. The Varier Pendulum helps to achieve just that. Forward-sloped seats on a rocking sled base support the body in a seated, natural position. This allows the angle between the thighs and torso to increase, allowing the body to naturally adopt the same spine curvature as when standing, relieving pressure from the vertebrae and letting you breathe more deeply and freely. The Pendulum promotes constant natural movement, keeping the back and abdominal muscles active at all times. While sitting, the user is actually strengthening the core muscles of the abdomen and back while preventing tension in the neck and shoulders. This "active sitting" improves circulation and oxygen levels, boosting energy, concentration, and overall well-being.

Movement and Variation
The Varier Pendulum is an ideal chair for any room in the home or office. The runners provide support when leaning forward or back in the chair while, at rest, the body becomes naturally balanced. A slightly sloped seat opens the angle at the hips improving circulation and breathing. The thin back allows the chest to open up and encourages deeper, more full breathing. All of these factors of active sitting can improve circulation and breathing leading to increased awareness and concentration.
