The human body is built for movement yet, in today's world, the body remains in the same static position a large percentage of the day. This lack of movement can lead to a variety of aches and pains. Varier's Thasit balans allows the body the movement it craves - it's the chair for which your body has been asking..
Based on the original balans seating ideals of Peter Opsvik, the Thatsit balans opens the angle between the thighs and upper body. The spine is free to find its natural curve and the body easily glides into an alert posture - improving blood flow and aiding concentration. When the spine is positioned in its natural curvature, breathing is enhanced and pressure is relieved from the vertabrae.
The optional adjustable backrest makes relaxation just a tilt away. Lean back and place the elbows on the "wings" of the backrest, stretching the torso and allowing for deep, free breathing. The backrest is an ideal option for those that may spend extended periods at a work table or desk.
As versatile in design as in concept, the Thatsit balans is the perfect instrument for the ever-changing demands of today's work places and lifestyles. Work becomes a breeze as the upright, "alert" posture promotes concentration and activity. The benefits are not just for adults, as the posture, breathing, and energy enhancements of active sitting have been directly correlated with improved homework performance in adolescents. With adjustable knee pads, the Thatsit balans easily adjusts for users of varying heights.
Humans were created to move, not to sit still.
"I believe that the spine is happiest when it can adopt the natural curvature that it has when we stand upright" -Peter Opsvik
"Correct" seating as we know it has no scientific evidence supporting this upright, right-angle as actually being correct. In contrast, many new studies are showing that the body performs and functions to its fullest capabilities when allowed to move.
The Varier Thatsit balans helps to achieve just that.... freedom to move. Designed with a forward-sloped seat placed on curved runners, the body is fully supported through each action and task. The angle between the thighs and torso increases, allowing the body to naturally adopt the same spine curvature as when standing, relieving pressure from the vertebrae and letting you breathe more deeply and freely.
The constant natural movement promoted by the Thatsit balans keeps the core muscles active at all times. While sitting, the user is actually strengthening the muscles of the abdomen and back while preventing tension in the neck and shoulders.
The Thatsit balans is also available with a back - allowing for more comfort for those using the chair for extended periods of time.
This "active sitting" improves circulation and oxygen levels, boosting energy, concentration, and overall well-being.
